Feb 2006 Robert Campbell gives Age Discrimination presentation in Plymouth. More than 125 delegates attended a seminar for Care Home providers arranged by Guide2Care at the stately Boringdon Hall Hotel near Plymouth to hear a range of speakers including leading healthcare and employment lawyer Robert Campbell of Robert Campbell & Company. The event, one of a series arranged around the south of England and midlands was held on Thursday 23 February 2006 Robert addressed the gathering with an advanced animated PowerPoint presentation on the forthcoming new Age Discrimination laws, which come into force in October this year. Although he is well known for his care standards and community contracting work, Robert also supports homeowners regarding employment issues and the age discrimination pack has been specifically designed to enable him to forearm his care home clients and enable them to be ready for the new regime. Robert said: "In October this year one of the most important and innovative reforms to employment law comes into force. After that it will be illegal to treat someone in relation to employment differently, whether directly or indirectly, because of their age or perceived age. Those that break the new rules will be liable to pay uncapped compensation to the employees or prospective employees in much the same way as racial or sexual discrimination. The law is complex and the lecture I am giving, which lasts about one and a half hours and is accompanied by a detailed set of lecture notes for delegates is designed to walk care home owners and their management staff through a new set of procedures in an effort to ensure they and their staff do not, inadvertently or otherwise, lay the homeowner open to what could be expensive claims to defend or pay or both. All employees and prospective employees under 65 are potential claimants because discrimination can be against young or old and the rules are going to be complex. Robert Campbell is arranging presentations at suitable venues to those wishing to receive them. Corporate members usually have their own facilities, whereas local associations have their usual meeting venues. Robert can be contacted to discuss a presentation on 0870 2412139 or at robert@carelaw.co.uk or visit www.carelaw.co.uk. More.....
